Laughing Survivor and Thriver
Buddie was initially kept as a pet, but she started to show aggression towards her guardians. This behavior reached a peak when she managed to escape her cage, leading to an incident so severe it was termed a "blood bath." This event led to her being sent to Jungle Friends. Upon her arrival, Buddie was in a dire state: she was three years old, weighed only three pounds, and was so thin that nearly all her bones were visible.
Shortly after arriving, Buddie's health took a turn for the worse, bringing her close to death. It was then discovered that she had diabetes, which prevented her body from turning the food she ate into necessary nutrients. Despite eating, she was starving to death because her body couldn't process the food properly.
Buddie's treatment involved receiving insulin injections twice a day for a year. This intensive care paid off, and her health improved significantly. Eventually, she was able to go off insulin, managing her diabetes with a careful diet and regular exercise.
Now, Buddie is among the happiest monkeys at Jungle Friends. The moment she began to laugh marked a significant turning point in her recovery. She now spends her days actively running, playing, and enjoying life with her monkey friends, a testament to her resilience and the care she received.
Buddie's spirit doppelganger is Oprah Winfrey. Both Buddie and Oprah exemplify resilience, the power of perseverance, and the possibility of overcoming obstacles to lead fulfilling lives. Their stories serve as inspirations for others facing challenges, showing that with courage and support, it is possible to overcome adversity and thrive.
