Banana "Bam" Rabble-Rouser
Ernie, affectionately known as Ernesto the Pesto, or Banana "Bam" Rabble-Rouser, is a high-energy white-faced capuchin with a personality as big as his name. Born in Las Vegas, Ernie found his way to Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary at the age of nine, alongside his partner-in-crime, Hayley. The two had been kept as ‘pet’ monkeys, a role they quickly outgrew, making their dissatisfaction known through plenty of nips and bites—behavior that left Ernie’s former guardian with a few too many trips to the plastic surgeon.
White-faced capuchins like Ernie are known for their territorial nature, and Ernie is no exception. His days are filled with boisterous energy; when he’s excited, he spins in circles, screams with joy, and can be heard from one end of the sanctuary to the other. His loud, delighted vocalizations are often matched by his neighbor and fellow troublemaker, Spanky. Ernie and Hayley spend their time exploring their spacious habitat, swinging from ropes, climbing trees, and playing elaborate games of chase. One of Ernie’s favorite pastimes is tossing his food—sometimes at his neighbors, Spanky and Bonnie, and other times at unsuspecting staff and volunteers. With his lively antics and larger-than-life spirit, Ernie is the heart of the party at Jungle Friends, ensuring there’s never a dull moment.
Emeril Lagasse is Ernie's spirit doppelganger because both are known for their high-energy, larger-than-life personalities that fill a room with excitement. Much like Emeril’s signature “Bam!” that spices up the kitchen, Ernie’s spirited vocalizations and food-tossing antics add a burst of fun to life at Jungle Friends.
Surveying his kingdom, Ernesto the Pesto is ready to stir up some fun at Jungle Friends.
