Tete arrived at Jungle Friends Primate Sanctuary after a long journey from a closed zoo in Puerto Rico. Thanks to the efforts of activists, attention was brought to the zoo’s failings, leading to her rescue. She wasn’t alone—her tiny companion, Wiki the marmoset, came with her. The two traveled overnight from Miami to Gainesville with the care team, who drove through the night to bring them to safety.
At first, Tete was shy and cautious, unsure of her new surroundings. But as she settled in, she began to come out of her shell. Now living with Dexter, Tete can often be seen following her caregivers around. She loves to travel through her runways, zooming along to keep a close watch on who is coming and going. With her smooth, graceful movements, she embodies a sense of control and poise, gliding through her world with effortless grace.
