Dumbo was one of the capuchins rescued from a bankrupt roadside zoo. He had been living in an enclosure with 24 other capuchins. Among them were a nursing mother and her infant, making it seem like a straightforward rescue. However, complications arose when we discovered that, despite being told all the males were vasectomized, three of the females gave birth.
As a result, Dumbo and the other males were moved into a bachelor group until they could be properly vasectomized. After their procedures, they all recovered well, and Dumbo is now enjoying his new, beautiful habitat. It features buckets, barrels, rope ladders, plenty of grass, trees, bamboo, and other shrubs. Dumbo is very laid back, often amusing himself with bugs or leaves, napping in the sun, or grooming his companion.
Dumbo is unique in his flirting style. While other monkeys lip-smack or place their hand over their heart, Dumbo stands up, rubs his belly, and raises his eyebrows suggestively. He certainly is quite the charmer.
Dumbo and his spirit doppelganger, Puss in Boots, both captivate those around them with their charming and playful antics. Whether it's Dumbo's unique belly-rubbing flirtation or Puss in Boots' iconic wide-eyed look, both characters know how to use their endearing quirks to win hearts and bring a touch of mischief to their worlds.
