Dereka's story begins with a close call—rescued just in time by Fish and Wildlife after an unfortunate attempt by her previous owner to sell her. That deal went sideways when the potential buyer was bitten, triggering an intervention that led to her safe arrival at Jungle Friends. Once here, Dereka's life took a much-needed turn for the better. She now thrives in an almost wild environment, surrounded by other monkeys, finally getting the proper care and respect she deserves.

But don’t let her sweet face fool you—Dereka is a bold mix of sugar and spice. As sweet as she can be, this little firecracker has a sassy side. She’s a bit of a busybody, always poking her nose into her neighbors' business and starting squabbles when she feels like it. Think of her as the "nosy neighbor" with a mischievous streak, constantly stirring the pot for fun.

Currently, the sanctuary team is in the delicate process of introducing her to Louie, a fellow wild card with his own eccentricities. The hope? These two spirited monkeys might balance each other out—or at least create some entertaining chaos together!
