Arie and Willy Wonka, two golden-handed tamarins, have been connected since birth, their fates tied together from the start. Their lives took a harsh turn when their caretaker was caught in legal trouble, leaving the pair at risk of euthanasia—a heartbreaking possibility for such innocent creatures.
That’s when Grandpa stepped in. With a big heart and a determination to save them, he reached out to Jungle Friends Sanctuary. Although there wasn’t space for the tamarins at the time, their family pulled together, raising the funds to build them a safe home within the sanctuary.
Over time, Arie and Willy, once inseparable, began to grow apart. Their bond frayed, and eventually, they were given separate enclosures. Now, Arie enjoys his days digging for bugs and exploring his space, while Willy lives nearby, each charting his own path. Despite their differences, their story is one of survival, second chances, and the quiet resilience of lifelong connections.
Like his kindred famous doppelganger, Bear Grylls, Arie has an adventurous spirit and approaches challenges with a relaxed confidence.
Serenity captured in a moment, as Arie enjoys the warmth and beauty of his home.
Arie’s face when someone mentions 'diet'... 'I'm sorry, what’s that?
When you're mid-bite and someone asks if you plan on sharing... 'Nope!
Arie’s motto: 'Life’s too short, eat the treat!' (and maybe another one just for good measure.
Arie, ever the curious explorer, contemplates his next move.
When you realize your snack is way better than you expected...
