Gus, along with four of his fellow squirrel monkeys, made the journey from the Yerkes National Primate Research Center at Emory University to Jungle Friends. This move is part of a heartening trend in which universities are choosing to retire their monkeys to sanctuary homes, allowing these animals to enjoy the rest of their lives filled with freedom, nature, and the companionship of their peers. 

Gus quickly became a standout among his new neighbors. With his calm demeanor and confident presence, he’s the silent leader of the group, a role he fills with understated grace. While Gus is no stranger to heights and has been seen scaling the branches with ease, he truly shines on the ground, where he loves to forage and explore. Gus takes pleasure in the simple joys of his environment, whether it’s the thrill of a tasty snack or the companionship of his friends.

Gus’s days are filled with sunshine, exploration, and the comfort of knowing he’s found a safe home.
