Endearing Gigglebug
Diabetic
After extensive preparation, Miki Moo and her ten-year companion, Mico Monster, arrived at Jungle Friends in June 2009, when Miki was 14 years old. Their journey to the sanctuary is a familiar story for many "pet" monkeys: both had attacked their guardians, prompting the need for Jungle Friends’ intervention. Miki, like many monkeys in captivity, arrived with diabetes and required insulin treatment.
Miki, a sweet and sensitive soul, initially faced a tougher transition than her bold counterpart, Mico. The new environment was overwhelming for her at first, and she struggled to adjust. However, with time and gentle care, Miki’s distress gradually gave way to a more playful spirit. Her once anxious expressions and lost calls slowly transformed into cheerful play faces and joyful giggles, marking her successful adaptation to her new life at Jungle Friends. Today, Miki is thriving, embracing her surroundings with the same sweetness that has always defined her.
Maya Rudolph is the perfect doppelganger for Miki, the "Endearing Gigglebug," because of her infectious laughter and playful energy. Just like Miki, Maya’s joyful spirit and ability to bring lighthearted fun to any situation make her a delightful presence, always ready to brighten someone’s day with a giggle.
