Whirlwind Wonder
Lulu’s arrival at Jungle Friends is a story of survival and second chances. At just six years old, she was left behind as her owner fled Hurricane Frances and abandoned her to face the storm alone. When authorities tried to rescue her, a confrontation with her former guardians erupted, sending Lulu into a desperate run. She was eventually captured and sedated, but the drugs were so strong that she remained unconscious for three days, her fate uncertain.
When Lulu finally awoke, she found herself in an unfamiliar place—disoriented and fearful. But luckily, she was now in her safe forever home, where she would be nurtured back to health and cared for. It was here that she met Stinky, and the two quickly became inseparable. Together, they eat, sleep, groom, and play, with Lulu finding the comfort and security she needed to heal and thrive alongside her new best friend.
Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz is Lulu’s doppelganger because both woke up in strange places after surviving powerful storms. Dorothy, swept away by a tornado to Oz, and Lulu, abandoned during Hurricane Frances and later waking at Jungle Friends after being sedated for three days. Both faced fear and uncertainty but ultimately found comfort, friendship, and a sense of belonging in their new environments.
