Former Lab
Al Fresco Feaster
Maggie’s journey to Jungle Friends began when she, along with ten other cotton-top tamarins, made the transition from a laboratory to the sanctuary after their previous facility closed. Known for her calm and balanced demeanor, Maggie quickly adjusted to her new life outdoors, embracing the freedom with grace. She can often be found lounging peacefully in the sun on her outdoor runway, taking in the daily goings-on of both her fellow monkeys and the humans around her with quiet curiosity.
One of Maggie’s favorite rituals is breakfast, where she thoughtfully selects her preferred bites from the bowl and takes them outside to enjoy. It’s here, under the warm Florida sun, that she savors her food, soaking up both nourishment and nature with equal delight.
Elizabeth Gilbert is Maggie’s spirit doppelganger because, like Maggie, she embraces the joy of life’s simple pleasures, especially when it comes to food and nature. Gilbert often reflects on the beauty of eating outside, savoring her meals in the fresh air, much like Maggie enjoys selecting her favorite foods and basking in the Florida sun. Both Gilbert and Maggie have a calm, reflective nature, finding peace and happiness in their connection to the world around them.
