Tupac arrived at Jungle Friends in March 2019, alongside Biggie and Smalls, after being rescued from an illegal breeding operation. When officials swooped in to seize the monkeys, the breeder handed over a few but fled with the rest. Luckily, these three were rescued and were given a fresh start here at Jungle Friends.

Settling into their new abode, the trio soon found themselves in the spotlight. Biggie's belly began to balloon rapidly, raising eyebrows and igniting chatter that she might be expecting. Before long, the news was confirmed; Biggie was indeed pregnant. Given these marmosets' checkered past with a shady breeder, the news didn't come as a complete surprise.

Soon after, Biggie gave birth to baby Lani, and Tupac stepped up as a protective and opinionated dad. He's known for his fondness for cozy hanging beds and his signature "threat move", performing a tiny handstand while lifting his tail to warn neighbors and caregivers alike. Although a bit standoffish with people, Tupac has settled into a comfortable and confident life at Jungle Friends, making the most of his new home.

Tupac the monkey's spirit doppelganger is his namesake, Tupac Shakur. Both overcame challenging circumstances and tumultuous backgrounds. While Tupac Shakur rose to fame as a successful rapper and public figure, Tupac the monkey became a protective father figure to Lani.
