Marylou's journey to Jungle Friends began on October 24, 2018, marking the start of quite an adventure! Originally purchased as a pet when she was just a few weeks old, her human guardians soon realized she wasn't suited for domestic life. Their attempt to rehome her at a zoo in Indiana didn't pan out, but thankfully, Peaceable Primates, a baboon sanctuary nearby, stepped in. Through their director's connection with Jungle Friends, it was clear that Marylou's forever home awaited her here. Although space wasn't immediately available, the Primate Rescue Center graciously cared for Marylou until she could join her new family at Jungle Friends. Her journey showcases the collaborative spirit among sanctuaries for the well-being of animals.

Despite her petite size, Marylou boasts a larger-than-life personality! Feisty and fiercely independent, she's not one to shy away from asserting herself. While she's willing to accept formula from a bottle or syringe, Marylou much prefers to take charge of her own meals with solid food. She delights in playful antics, particularly enjoying games of hide-and-seek with her caregivers. Ever the mischievous marmoset, she's mastered the art of the species's signature threat face, which she gleefully employs to keep everyone on their toes.
