My Story

Lani may be one of the youngest monkeys in Munchkinland, but don't let her age fool you - she's got confidence, curiosity, and just the right amount of attitude. Born on April 19, 2019, Lani was a total surprise: Jungle Friends had taken in three marmosets from an illegal breeder-two males and one very large female. That female was quickly named Biggie, and before long, it became clear that Biggie was expecting... and Lani made her grand debut not long after! 

Her parents, Biggie and Tupac, had spent their entire lives having their babies taken away for the pet trade, but Lani gave them something they never had: the chance to raise their last baby themselves. Not only was she raised by both mom and dad, but her uncle Smalls also stepped in as a doting caregiver, often seen carrying her around when she was just a tiny bundle of fuzz. It's safe to say: it took a whole crew to raise this little legend. 

Now a fully grown force of nature, Lani is as bold as they come. She spends nearly all her time outdoors, soaring across the ropes in her habitat like she's headlining her own tour. She's constantly surveying her surroundings, watching the action with sharp eyes and fearless energy. Humans, though? She's not trying to impress them. Lani prefers to keep her distance-unless there's food involved, of course. She'll swing in to grab a bite, then it's right back out to the open air, where she feels most at home. With roots in one of the sanctuary's most iconic families and a spirit that's 100% independent, Lani is writing her own lyrics now-and she's doing it loud, proud, and totally on her own terms.

Lani's spirit doppelganger is Paris Jackson. Paris, the daughter of the legendary singer Michael Jackson, has grown up in the spotlight but has forged her own path with resilience and grace. Both Lani and Paris embody a spirit of overcoming challenges while captivating those around them with their charm and individuality.
