Daring Dynamo
Dodger, a small yet spirited capuchin monkey, arrived at Jungle Friends at just five years old. Originally purchased as a gift and kept as a pet, Dodger's early life was marked by a well-meaning but misinformed owner who lacked knowledge of his specific dietary needs. This oversight led to a severe vitamin deficiency, stunting Dodger's growth and leaving him significantly underweight.
When Dodger first set foot in the sanctuary, he weighed a mere 2.5 pounds—a stark contrast to the seven pounds typically expected of a capuchin his age. But Dodger was no ordinary monkey. His resilience became evident as he quickly adapted to his new environment, doubling in size quickly.
At Jungle Friends, Dodger found his stride. He immediately embraced the space, leaping and swinging with newfound freedom. Despite his small stature, his playful energy and daring nature have endeared him to all. He enjoys rough-and-tumble play with his fellow monkeys and often displays a protective streak, sizing up new volunteers with a show of bravado.
Rocket Raccoon from Guardians of the Galaxy is Dodger’s spirit doppelganger because both embody the "small but mighty" persona. They share a feisty spirit and never back down from a challenge, no matter the odds. Like Rocket, Dodger’s courage and tenacity prove that true strength isn't measured by size.
